About this event
Set on Tarama Island, surrounded by rich nature and the scent of the sea, the 26th Tarama Island Round-the-Island Marathon is an event aimed at allowing people who regularly engage in running for health to run happily while taking in the island's charms. It aims to foster sound development of youth, revitalize the local community through sports, and promote friendship and harmony between villagers and participants. The event offers a diverse range of courses consisting of 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 23.75 km, with participation open from elementary school students. In particular, the 1 km course is limited to lower elementary school grades (3rd grade and below). Participant fees include event administration expenses, an original T-shirt, and accident insurance, with all finishers receiving a completion certificate. In addition, providing a meal consisting of goat soba or beef soba accompanied by rice balls and zenzai (sweet red bean soup) is one of its appeals. Registration is held on the day before and the day of the event, warmly welcoming participants from both inside and outside the island. Awards are given up to the top 3 overall per gender for each course, and the winners (male and female) of Course A (23.75 km) receive the privilege of being invited to the following year's event. As accommodations on the island are limited, participants are recommended to make their own lodging arrangements. This event will serve as a great opportunity to improve one's health and deepen exchanges with the local community while enjoying the scenic beauty of Tarama Island.
