About this event
Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Shibetsu Salmon Science Museum is hosting a special autumn event titled 'Autumn is the Time! Let's Go to the Salmon Science Museum!'. Starting on the museum's opening anniversary on September 15 and running through September 23, various programs will be held. From September through October, the seasonal 'Salmon Upstream Migration Exhibit' will take place in the fishway tank connected to the Shibetsu River, allowing visitors to observe salmon migrating upstream. Furthermore, during the 5-day holiday from September 19 to 23, the feeding show for the giant sturgeon 'Arm Chomp', which exceeded 100 million views on social media, will be held twice daily, limited to the first 50 participants per session. In addition, a salmonid papercraft workshop will be held on September 19, requiring advance registration with a participation fee of 200 yen. An autumn salmon cutting demonstration by local fishmonger 'Uoshiba' will also take place on September 21 and 22, where visitors can learn how to fillet salmon. Events such as an SNS contest commemorating the 35th anniversary, a creature general election, and a campaign to win exchange tickets placed inside feed capsules will also be held. During the period, gifts of original uchiwa fans and a commemorative mochimaki (rice cake toss) are scheduled. From September 15 to 23, the museum will open earlier than usual at 9:00.
