About this event
The "11th Namioka Kitabatake Autumn Fire-Making Festival," hosted by the Aomori City Namioka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Namioka Castle Ruins (Uchidate). In this festival, participants divided into East and West pull large wooden pillars with ropes around a scaffold erected in the center of the venue to start a fire. The event aims to pray for "warding off epidemics," "bountiful harvest," "business prosperity," "family safety," and "peace and repose of souls," while reflecting on the Kitabatake clan who colored the history and culture of Namioka, fostering love for the hometown, and creating vitality in the Namioka area of Aomori City. Following the fire-making ceremony starting at 4:00 PM, a "fire-making experience" targeting elementary school students and younger children will also be held. In addition, with the parade of the three-generation Kitabatake Nebuta floats (Lord Akiie, Lord Akinari, Lord Chikafusa) and food/drink stalls, it is an event that can be enjoyed with family and friends.
