The Towada City Autumn Festival, held every September in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture, is a traditional festival originating from prayers for a bountiful harvest during the Sambongihara reclamation era. Centered around Sambongi Avenue and the Towada City Government Office Street area, diverse events will be held over three days, including joint parades of gorgeous floats, regular parades, nagashi-odori group dances, and Towada Hayashi musical performances. In particular, elaborate floats and brave taiko drum carts add vibrant colors to the streets, and the powerful sounds of the drums and dynamic stick-work are full of impact. In addition to daytime runs, visitors can enjoy a magical atmosphere during the twilight and nighttime processions. Towada City's unique unified musical accompaniment, Towada Hayashi, further heightens the festival's excitement, creating a moving spectacle where performers and spectators become one. This festival serves as a valuable venue that symbolizes regional pride and fosters a sense of unity and vitality among local residents through intergenerational exchange.
