Misawa Airport Sky Day Festival 2026

About this event

Misawa Airport offers good access from the city center and is a very rare airfield in Japan used jointly by three parties: the US Forces Japan, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, and civil aviation. This event was planned out of a desire for people who rarely fly and residents of neighboring municipalities to become familiar with Misawa Airport and learn about it. On the day, numerous events are prepared, offering an opportunity to experience the airport's charm. In addition, the "People and Jobs Protecting the Airport" hands-on event will be held simultaneously, allowing visitors to view airport facilities normally off-limits and observe parked aircraft operations up close, as well as try out baggage inspection with metal detectors and X-ray monitors. It is an event where parents and children can enjoy an extraordinary hands-on experience regarding airport work.
