About this event

'Ao no Kirameki Aomori Kokospo (Kendo Competition)' is a kendo competition held in Shichinohe Town, Aomori Prefecture. Kendo is a sport in which two competitors wearing protective gear use bamboo swords to compete by striking the men (head), kote (wrist), or do (torso), or thrusting at the tsuki (throat). Matches are in principle a three-point contest, where the competitor who scores two points first within the match time wins. If no decision is reached within the match time, it results in a draw. Team matches are held with 5 members for adult men and junior boys/girls, and 3 members for adult women. Adult men will compete with 1 team per prefecture, while junior boys/girls and adult women will compete in a tournament format consisting of 16 teams (15 teams selected from 9 blocks nationwide plus 1 host team from Aomori Prefecture). This tournament will be held from October 17 to October 19, 2026, with the Shichinohe Town General Arena serving as the venue. Heated matches are scheduled to take place across the adult men, adult women, junior boys, and junior girls divisions.
