
About this event
A marathon event where you can run refreshingly along the shores of Lake Ogawara, the largest lake in Aomori Prefecture, while feeling the autumn breeze. A wide variety of divisions are prepared—including the half marathon, 10km, 5km, 3km, and 2km—allowing participation according to age and fitness level. The half marathon is open to men and women aged 18 and older; the 10km is for high school boys and up, and high school girls and up; the 5km is for high school students and up (men and women) and junior high school boys; the 3km is for junior high school girls and 4th–6th grade elementary school boys and girls; the 2km is for 1st–3rd grade elementary school boys and girls as well as a free division (no age limit). Eligibility is open to those confident in their health who can complete the specified distance. Half marathon runners are required to finish within 2 hours and 30 minutes. Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, and awards are given in each division. Special prizes such as the Oldest Participant Award and Out-of-Prefecture Award are also prepared. On the day of the event, services such as sports drink distribution and a fun lottery will be available. Baggage storage service (excluding valuables) is also accessible. A marathon clinic and the participation of guest runner Tomomi Yuda are planned. As medical services, doctors, nurses, and emergency medical technicians are stationed at the event headquarters, with doctors and firefighters patrolling along the course. In the previous event, 752 runners participated. Sightseeing spots around the venue include Roadside Station Ogawarako (Michi-no-Eki Ogawarako), the Monument of Nihon Chuo, Lake Ogawara, Futatsumori Shell Mound, and Joyato Park. Local specialties include wakasagi (smelt), shijimi (brackish-water clam), shirauo (icefish), Chinese mitten crab, nagaimo (yam), burdock root, garlic, and daikon radish.
