Otsukimi Moon Viewing Gathering

About this event

Held in Nayoro City, Hokkaido, the 'Otsukimi Moon Viewing Gathering' is an event to appreciate the beautiful moon in the clear night sky during the long autumn evenings. It will be held at the rooftop observation room of Nayoro Observatory Kitasubaru and other areas from Saturday, September 19, 2026, to Friday, September 25, 2026, between 18:00 and 21:30 each day. Although Friday, September 25 is a regular closing day, the observatory will be temporarily open only during the viewing event hours. During this period, a special event will also be held where you can easily photograph the moon through a small telescope using your smartphone. No registration is required; please come directly to the observatory reception desk on the day. Admission fees are 410 yen for adults, 310 yen for students, 200 yen for seniors aged 65 and older, and free for high school students and younger. Because it gets chilly at night, wearing warm clothing is recommended.
