Ganryu Shrine Hadaka Mairi (Naked Pilgrimage)

About this event

Boasting a 370-year history, the Otomo-cho Hadaka Mairi (Naked Pilgrimage), famous as the only unusual festival in the Tono region, will be held. It is a traditional event to pray for family safety, bountiful harvests, fire prevention, traffic safety, and academic success. Gathering at the Otomo District Center and conducted in a solemn atmosphere together with local residents, this festival brightens up the winter night in Tono.
