24th Karumedate Picture Scroll

About this event

Karumedate (Nagasaka Castle) was the base of the Chiba clan, senior vassals of the Kasai clan who carried on the Hiraizumi Golden Culture for 400 years from the Kamakura period. In the 18th year of Tensho (1590), military commanders from districts such as Iwai, Isawa, Kesen, Motoyoshi, Tome, and Kurihara assembled here to hold a council of war deciding whether or not to obey Toyotomi Hideyoshi's order to join the Odawara campaign. This event recreates that historical scene and conveys the spirit of the Sengoku period. Actor Ryuta Muro will appear as the supreme commander. On the preceding day, the "Karumedate Picture Scroll Eve Festival" will also be held in the Nagasaka Shopping District.
