Iwate Ginga Festa 2026 is an event held in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. This year's theme is 'The Universe and Time - Time-Domain Astronomy.' At the venue, lectures and presentations of research results will be held, and visitors can also enjoy hands-on experience events, musical and dance performances, and sales of local sweets. A special public opening of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan Mizusawa and free admission to the Oshu Space Yugakukan will be held at the same time. To avoid extreme heat, the event period has been changed to autumn. At the lectures, visitors can hear the latest astronomy research results directly from researchers. The mini-lectures also provide an opportunity to listen to researchers in a more accessible setting. In addition, a VERA 20m Antenna Tour will be conducted. This event will be an opportunity to deepen interest in space and experience the charms of the local region.
