About this event
Held annually in the Kawaguchi district of Iwate Town, the "Kawaguchi Autumn Festival (Daimyo Procession)" is a traditional festival rooted in the community as the annual grand festival of Kawaguchi Toyoki Inari Shrine. In 2026 (Reiwa 8), it will be held over 3 days from Sunday, September 20 to Tuesday (holiday), September 22. The festival highlights include the "Otori" (departure procession) and "Okaeri" (return procession), where portable shrines (mikoshi), a daimyo procession, local performing arts, and 3 festival floats parade through the town. In particular, on the 21st, the local performing arts group "Ukishima Nembutsu Kenbai" will make a guest appearance to further enliven the festival. In addition, a joint performance of local performing arts and festival floats is scheduled on the 22nd at the IGR Iwate-Kawaguchi Station Square, where visitors can enjoy arts rich in local flavor, such as Kawaguchi Ondo, Kawaguchi Kagura, Kitsune Dance, and Nohara Sansa Dance. Please note that traffic restrictions will be in effect during the festival period.
