The 65th Iwate Town Arts Festival

The annual "65th Iwate Town Arts Festival" held in Iwate Town is an event aimed at raising residents' interest in arts and culture and promoting local culture. This arts festival is held in two sections: the Stage Division and the Exhibition Division. The Stage Division will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Iwate Town Sports and Culture Center "Mori no Arena" from 11:30 to 15:00, with an admission fee of 500 yen (free for junior high school students and younger). The Exhibition Division will be held from Saturday, November 21 to Sunday, December 13, 2026, at the Ishigami no Oka Museum of Art from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission at 16:30, and until 15:00 on the final day), with free admission. Call for works spans a wide variety of categories, including paintings, calligraphy, flower arrangement (kado), photography, literary arts (poetry, tanka, haiku, senryu, etc.), ceramics, and handicrafts. Eligibility is open to those who live or work in the town. Entry application deadlines are Friday, September 25 for the first round, and Friday, October 23 for the second round. This arts festival plays an important role as a venue for town residents to demonstrate their creativity and as an opportunity for local residents to engage with art.
