Held in Habomai, Nemuro City—the birthplace of "Habomai Kelp" known nationwide—the "Habomai Kelp Festival" is a summer event where you can fully enjoy the deliciousness of kelp and the blessings of the sea. At the venue, a lineup of popular menus that draw long lines every year will be featured, including kelp gourmet foods like "Kelp Udon," "Kelp Soba," and "Kelp Oden," as well as "Grilled Scallops" and "Marinated Zangi (fried chicken)." In addition, marine products such as Habomai Fisheries Cooperative's "Kelp Soy Sauce," various kelp products, and "Hokkai Striped Shrimp" will be sold, allowing you to enjoy unique local shopping. Furthermore, a rich variety of programs for families to enjoy are offered, including sightseeing boat cruises around Cape Nosappu and Kaigara Island aboard the Habomai Fisheries Cooperative guide boat "Habomaimaru," a children's bingo tournament (elementary school students and younger only), and a kelp harvesting experience (free). On stage, popular song shows, impersonation shows, and charity raffles will also take place, enlivening the festival atmosphere.
