This is an event where the 111-year-old Marukoma Onsen Ryokan opens its day-trip hot springs for free exclusively to Chitose citizens as an expression of daily gratitude on the day before celebrating the 100th anniversary of the enforcement of Chitose's municipal organization. In a hidden hot spring surrounded by the rich nature of Lake Shikotsu, visitors can enjoy natural open-air baths where water springs up directly beneath their feet. Held in 2026, when the two milestones of Chitose City's '100 years' and Marukoma Onsen's '111 years' overlap, this event embodies the wish to celebrate local history and carry it into the future. As the only accommodation facility at Lake Shikotsu operated by a local company, Marukoma Onsen has been supported by the local community. This event was planned out of a desire to directly convey that gratitude in the form of hot springs. It is a day imbued with Marukoma Onsen's hope to be loved by Chitose citizens not merely as a tourist destination, but as the 'local hot spring.' At the event, presentation of proof confirming that one is a Chitose citizen is required.
