About this event
The annual 'Fudai Festival,' a major event in Fudai Village, Iwate Prefecture, is held in the hope that villagers can laugh and enjoy themselves from the heart, leading to energy for tomorrow. The festival lasts for three days. On the first day, an opening ceremony, a float procession, and a performance of the Nakano-ryu Unotori Nana-tou Mai dance will take place. On the middle day, excitement builds with the Fudai Station-front Gourmet Festival, a local performing arts showcase, a premium stage show, and a Bon Odori dance contest with prizes. On the final day (Okaeri), the festival reaches its finale with the Fudai Station-front Gourmet Festival again, a float procession, a children's parade (chigo procession), a magic show, water-splashing for good luck, a comedy stage, and the closing ceremony. The sight of the gorgeous and elegant Furyu floats, typical of northern Iwate Prefecture, parading through the center of the village is breathtaking. On the middle day, in addition to the local performing arts presentation, premium stage show, and fun raffle with lavish prizes held at the special venue in front of the station, fireworks will also be set off.
