About this event

This trial monitor tour in Hirono Town, Iwate Prefecture, lets you experience the charms of a beautiful fishing village blessed with rich nature and seafood. Active fishermen will guide you through the world's only "sea urchin propagation channels" to uncover the secrets of sea urchins. At the Sea Urchin Cultivation Center, you can interact with juvenile sea urchins and board a fishing boat to look into the sea. The boat ride from Kadonohama Fishing Port offers a view of the crystal-clear water from a fisherman's perspective using a glass-bottom viewing box. Additionally, the itinerary includes a "sea urchin shell treasure hunt" on Taneichi Beach and the "Hirono Emotion" experience of waving large catch flags toward Tohoku Emotion, a restaurant train running on the JR Hachinohe Line. During the tour, you can savor fresh local seafood cuisine and spend deeply relaxing time at accommodations overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This tour aims to promote ocean-based tourism and business (umigyo) leveraging local assets, creating new vitality and sustainable business in coastal regions. It is a rare opportunity to experience the future of sustainable fishing villages on-site, beyond being a simple traveler.
