About this event

Commemorating the registration of structures owned by the company as National Registered Tangible Cultural Properties, IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway will host the "Symposium Commemorating the National Registered Tangible Cultural Property Registration of IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway's Railway Civil Engineering." In this symposium, keynote lectures will be delivered regarding the evaluation of the 11 registered tangible cultural properties of IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway and the history of Japanese railway civil engineering as seen in Nippon Railway. In addition, a lecture titled "Railway Landscapes Also Seen by Takuboku Ishikawa" and a presentation about the brick story that supported the civil engineering works of the 5th section of the Oshu Line of Nippon Railway are also scheduled. Speakers include Shigeru Onoda, Advisor at the Railway Technical Research Institute; Daijiro Kitagawa, Senior Cultural Property Examiner in the Buildings and Sites Division of the Agency for Cultural Affairs; Yasuo Fujiwara, Director of the Takuboku Ishikawa Memorial Museum and the Morioka City Tamayama Historical Folklore Museum; and Norikazu Minamidate, Migration Coordinator for Ichinohe Town and Representative of the Association for Inheriting and Utilizing IGR's Railway Heritage. Doors open at 11:30 and the event begins at 13:30, featuring a performance of the local performing art "Nekosori Shishi Odori" (Deer Dance) as the opening act. The symposium is scheduled to close at 17:00. Admission is free, with a capacity of 120 people on a first-come, first-served basis without prior application. As venue access, shuttle buses will operate between Ichinohe Station and Bandai-kan. Concurrently held events include the "Ichinohe Steam Exhibition," "Sales of Nostalgic Ekiben (Station Bento)," and "Introduction of Japanese Railway Cultural Properties." A networking gathering will also be held separately with a participation fee of 5,000 yen, which requires prior application.
