About this event
The 2026 Basin Sewerage Festival will be held at the Ishinomaki Purification Center. There will be guided tours of the sewerage facility normally closed to the public, and participants will receive a manhole coaster as a gift. It is packed with corners for parents and children to enjoy, including an exhibition of 1,311 varieties of manhole cards from across Japan, distribution of manhole cards from Miyagi's 3 river basins, vendor stalls, and stage events. It is an event where you can enjoy learning about the sewerage system essential to daily life; it will be held in light rain and canceled in severe weather. Visitors can enjoy facility tours, stage events, sales of handmade goods and agricultural produce, a festival fair corner, food trucks, a mini steam locomotive, a horse-drawn carriage, a bouncy dome, and a working vehicles corner. A sewerage quiz will also be conducted.
