About this event
At Yanaizu Kokuzoson in Tsuyama-cho, Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture, the Annual Autumn Grand Festival is held every year in mid-October. This grand festival is characterized by a carpet of ginkgo leaves spreading all over the grounds, taking place amidst this beautiful scenery. In particular, the sight of children celebrating Shichi-Go-San being gently enveloped symbolizes the warm atmosphere of this festival. Yanaizu Kokuzoson is one of Japan's Three Great Kokuzo Bodhisattvas, said to have been founded in 726, and has attracted the faith of many people since ancient times as one of Oshu's foremost sacred mountains and spiritual places. The Autumn Grand Festival is a special event colored by that history and faith.
