About this event

This special exhibition displays 64 carefully selected works from the collection of the Hoki Museum, Japan's first museum dedicated to realist painting, which opened in Chiba Prefecture in 2010. Masterpieces by leading Japanese realist painters such as Sosuke Morimoto and Hiroshi Noda are featured alongside passionate works by the museum's signature artists as well as mid-career and younger painters including Nobuyuki Shimamura, Osamu Obi, Ryo Shiotani, and Kei Mieno. Visitors can enjoy the astonishing world of realist painting that, despite being paintings, look as if you are viewing the real objects or even feel more real than reality itself.
