2026 Noshiro City Bangaku Grand Performance

Held at the Former Ryotei Kaneyu in Noshiro City, the "2026 Noshiro City Bangaku Grand Performance" is a traditional performing arts festival where bangaku preservation societies within Noshiro City showcase the results of their daily practice. Preservation societies such as Tomine Hotoku Bangaku, Kairagebuchi Bangaku, and Tane Bangaku will perform, presenting the unique dances and musical accompaniment of each group. One of the highlights is enjoying the distinct differences in expression for each preservation society, even for the same program. Set in the grand hall of the Former Ryotei Kaneyu—a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan hailed as the "Hall of Natural Akita Cedar"—visitors can fully savor the tradition and allure of bangaku, which is also designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Viewing is free, making it a valuable opportunity to experience the traditional culture that Noshiro City is proud of.
