Atago Shrine Festival Daimyo Procession

This Daimyo Procession is dedicated to the festival of Atago Shrine, which holds the prestige of the Akita Domain Satake Minamike's 100,000 koku status. A total of several hundred participants dressed in gorgeous costumes parade through the streets of Yuzawa City centered around the lord on horseback, resembling a grand picture scroll. The "Yakko-furi" dance, in which retainers bend their waists and perform unique gestures, is one of the highlights of this procession. Along Yanagimachi Shopping Street, dance performances, merchandise sales, and food stalls will also be held simultaneously, making the festival even more exciting.
