About this event

This special exhibition primarily showcases photographs capturing the daily lives of wild animals—especially Asian black bears—taken over more than 30 years by photographer Akemi Kato, a native of Misato Town. Through the lives of Asian black bears living in Akita's rich nature, the exhibition explores how humans and animals can coexist and introduces the allure of Akita's nature. Mr. Kato has engaged in a wide range of activities, including holding solo exhibitions and publishing photo books within the prefecture, and in fiscal year 2024 (Reiwa 6), he received the Akita Prefecture Art Encouragement Special Award 'Furusato Culture Award'. In this exhibition, visitors can view numerous precious photographs where you can feel the breath of wild animals captured by Mr. Kato.
