October Nishimonai Bon Dance General Practice Session

The October Nishimonai Bon Dance General Practice Session in Ugo Town, Akita Prefecture, is an open practice session organized by the preservation society for Nishimonai Bon Dance—a Nationally Designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property—where anyone from inside or outside the town can easily join. Instruction is divided into sections for Ondo, Ganke, and general dance, and participants can also join the musical accompaniment (ohayashi) practice. This practice session is an excellent opportunity to learn and experience the tradition of Nishimonai Bon Dance, allowing participants not only to acquire dancing techniques but also to connect with local culture. It will be held at night at the Nishimonai Bon Dance Hall (Ugo Town Central Community Center). Unlike the Bon dance festival itself, the session is focused on practice and instruction, allowing participants to learn from the basics to applied moves.
