About this event
This is the autumn foliage season along the Gassan Hanagasa Line, a driving route along a national highway selected as one of 'Japan's Top 100 Roads.' Along the way, the giant fountain of Lake Gassan is also one of the highlights. In autumn, Japanese rowan and maple trees turn colorful, and you can view the reddish famous peak from the road. This route spans a total length of 30.9 kilometers, allowing you to enjoy various types of autumn leaves while driving. Types of autumn foliage include Japanese maple, maple, beech, oak, and sumac. The typical best viewing period is from mid-October to early November. Admission is free.
