The 36th Kurosawa Pass Festival Trekking

About this event

This is a trekking event along 'Kurosawa Pass', located in Oguni Town, Yamagata Prefecture, which has been selected as one of the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Top 100 Historical Roads. On this historic pass, which Isabella Bird is also said to have walked, approximately 3,600 stone paving steps laid down during the Edo Period still remain today. Guided by a local guide while enjoying the autumn leaves as the trees begin to change color, participants can feel the atmosphere of the historic Echigo Highway that once connected Yonezawa and Echigo. On the day of the event, the route will be a round-trip course to the summit of the pass. Why not take this opportunity to experience the beautiful landscape woven together by history and nature?
