Staged at the Yanagihashi Kabuki Transmission Hall (Kuroishiso) in Nakata-machi, Koriyama City, "Yanagihashi Kabuki" is a traditional performing art that has been passed down in the Yanagihashi district for over 200 years since the Edo period. It is said to have originated when farmers dedicated performances to the district's Sugafune Shrine to give thanks for the autumn harvest. The changing scenery from daytime to sunset and into the night is one of the highlights, making this city-designated important intangible folk cultural property performed on a fantastical outdoor stage on an autumn night. On the day, performances by local residents and junior high school students will be staged, and the performance by Mitate Junior High School students will be their last this year, making the children's passionate performance not to be missed. Watching while enjoying food and drinks has also been handed down as a pleasure of rural kabuki, and freshly prepared food and drinks are available at the stalls.
