To showcase the charm of the Naganuma area in Sukagawa City, the 2nd 'New Naganuma Festival 2026' will be held, with Naganuma Comprehensive Athletic Park as the main venue and Kanamachi-dori as the sub-venue. Under the theme 'Where the Present and Past of Naganuma Meet,' it inherits the spirit of the Naganuma Festival, which closed its 40-year history, passing regional culture, performing arts, and community connections to the next generation while creating new vibrancy. A diverse range of activities will unfold, including special effects explosion filming experiences, screenings of works produced by junior high school students, cosplay photo sessions, and stage performances. Around Naganuma Lab, special effects explosion filming experiences and special effects screenings will be held, along with screenings of original works made by Naganuma Junior High School students, releases of making-of footage, diorama exhibits, and monster suit try-on experiences. At Naganuma Community Center and Kanamachi-dori, 'New Naganuma Cosfes' combining cosplay photo sessions with the festival will be held. The athletic park will host over 30 retail and food stalls, kitchen cars, corporate job experience activities, and working vehicle displays. The stage lineup includes Koriyama local hero Davaizer and kaiju monster shows, Naganuma Bon Odori dance experience, kids dance, Taisho goto harp, karate demonstrations, performances by local and high school bands, and karaoke. Large Nebuta/Neputa floats used in the Naganuma Festival will be on display, alongside guest Hayashite musical accompaniment performers from Aomori. In the morning, child-friendly programs are prepared, such as storytelling and craft workshops by volunteer readers, watermelon splitting, and complimentary watermelon tasting. Free shuttle buses will operate for convenient access.
