Kitakata KANPAI Festival 2026 is held as one of Japan's premier generous sake-tasting events. Over 30 brands of Kitakata's famed sake will be available for all-you-can-drink tastings, alongside a full lineup of sake (equivalent to Junmai-shu) from every brewery in Fukushima Prefecture. It is a rare opportunity to enjoy renowned sake from across Fukushima that is usually hard to come by all at once. In addition, there will be offerings of local Kitakata wine, local sake tastings and specialty product sales from partner cities Shiogama City (Miyagi Prefecture) and Nanyo City (Yamagata Prefecture). Pre-registered attendees will receive a traditional Kitakata lacquerware ochoko cup as a gift (same-day registrants receive a ceramic ochoko cup). At the venue, over 30 stalls and food trucks run by local businesses and others are scheduled to appear, offering food and drinks, sake-pairing snacks, and popular dessert vendors, so those who do not drink alcohol can also enjoy themselves. Free announcer Akari Hataya will serve as the general MC to liven up the event. Children are also allowed entry, and there are plenty of offerings for the entire family to enjoy, including soft drinks and sweets sales. The event will proceed rain or shine (canceled in stormy weather), and re-entry is permitted during event hours.
