Japanese name:磐梯高原(裏磐梯)の紅葉
📅 Sat, Oct 10, 2026 - Sun, Nov 8, 2026
About this event
In the Bandai Highlands (Urabandai), beautiful autumn foliage can be enjoyed in fall. In particular, around the Goshikinuma Ponds, the contrast between the turquoise blue ponds and the autumn leaves is spectacular. In the early foliage stage, changing leaves mix with green leaves, presenting various expressions. The Goshikinuma Nature Trail is about 3.6 km long and can be walked in about 1.5 to 2 hours. In addition, Nakatsugawa Gorge is also known as a famous autumn foliage spot, where visitors can descend into the gorge to enjoy the foliage up close or look down from the bridge. The Nakatsugawa Gorge Nature Trail is about 800 m long, taking approximately 1 hour. Autumn foliage can also be enjoyed while driving along scenic roads such as the Bandai-Azuma Skyline and Nishi-Azuma Sky Valley. Due to the high altitude, the leaves begin turning relatively early, reaching their peak viewing period from late September to mid-October.
