Tanagura Autumn Festival

About this event

A traditional event lasting approximately 200 years in Tanagura Town, Fukushima Prefecture, the "Tanagura Autumn Festival" features massive festival floats (dashi) parading through the town and dynamic performances. Floats are pulled out from both the I-gumi and Shinmachi-gumi groups, with festival music and drum performances taking place everywhere. In particular, the "hiki-chigai" and "o-hiki-ai," where floats compete in strength and clash against one another, are spectacular must-see highlights. You can feel firsthand a festival full of tradition and vibrancy, enveloped in the enthusiasm of the participants.
