Held in Kawauchi Village, Fukushima Prefecture on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, 2026, 'Kawauchi Village Hill Climb & Gran Fondo Kawauchi' is an irresistible two-day cycling event for hill-climbing enthusiasts. On the first day, Saturday, October 3, a 15km hill climb race leading up to Takatsuka Plateau will be held. The course starts with a gentle incline and becomes steeper from the midpoint onward, designed so that many participants can finish within one hour. Top 10 finishers in each division are eligible for awards, providing plenty of chances for recognition. After the hill climb race, a BBQ event to deepen interaction among participants will be held, and overnight stays are possible at 'Iwana no Sato', which also features cottages and campsites. On the second day, Sunday, October 4, the mountain long-distance ride event 'Gran Fondo Kawauchi' will be held, racing through the beautiful nature of Kawauchi Village. Two course types are available: the 'Saka-Baka Course' with a distance of 81km and an elevation gain of 1,800m, and the 'Saka-Challe Course' with a distance of 39km and an elevation gain of 600m. The 'Saka-Challe Course' is open to elementary school students and above, making it perfect for parent-child participation. The venue also features a cycle flea market, free kids' Strider balance bike lessons, and more, further enhancing the appeal of the event. It is an event where you can fully enjoy the fun of cycling in Kawauchi Village, well known for its many slopes.
