"The Most Beautiful Villages in Japan" Union Beautiful Day Activity

Iitate Village is participating in the nationwide campaign of "The Most Beautiful Villages in Japan" Union by conducting activities to clean up the village and preserve its local culture. This initiative is part of a nationwide effort to ensure beautiful villages remain beautiful for generations to come. Participants will assemble at the "Fureai-kan" Community Center at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 (Reiwa 8), and conduct litter-picking activities in the surrounding area from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Through this activity, the event aims to rediscover the charms of the village and build momentum for maintaining a beautiful village into the future. While the Village Planning Promotion Division carried it out with staff only last year, starting this year it will be held together with local residents. Participants will receive an original mesh cap as a commemorative gift. Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended for taking part. In addition to keeping the village clean, this initiative connects to cultural preservation, providing a vital opportunity to protect the beautiful village and pass it on to the next generation.
