About this event
Held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Hashimoto Athletic Park (Kinugawa Riverbank) in Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture, the '59th Joso Kinugawa Fireworks Festival' is a highly artistic fireworks festival bringing together nationally renowned pyrotechnicians. A record 22,000 fireworks—the largest scale in the event's history—will be launched. In the opening, powerful music starmines will be launched against the backdrop of the Mount Fuji-shaped Niagara waterfall, a signature specialty of the Joso Kinugawa Fireworks Festival. Furthermore, a diverse program will unfold, featuring carefully selected artistic shells from the Japan Fireworks Artists Association, Prime Minister's Award-winning music starmines, the Fire Art Contest, and a showcase of superstarmines, allowing spectators to enjoy the collaborative performances of master pyrotechnicians. Message fireworks and new shaped novelty fireworks will also appear to captivate audiences. Access is a 10-minute walk from Kita-Mitsukaido Station or a 17-minute walk from Mitsukaido Station on the Kanto Railway Joso Line, or about 7 km by car from Yawara IC. Paid spectator seating is available, and paid parking is also accessible. In case of stormy weather, the event will be postponed to the following day.
