Autumn Foliage at Hanazono and Sarugajo Gorges
Japanese name:花園渓谷・猿ヶ城渓谷の紅葉
📅 Sun, Nov 1, 2026 - Mon, Nov 30, 2026
About this event
Designated as part of Hanazono-Hanakuki Prefectural Natural Park, Hanazono Gorge is famous as an autumn foliage spot. In particular, the autumn colors of maples, Japanese beech (inubuna), and Japanese mountain maples (yamamomiji) across the Hanazono River offer spectacular views. The upstream Sarugajo Gorge and downstream Jorenji Gorge also offer many highlights, enjoyable throughout the four seasons. The sight of red and yellow leaves fluttering down into the mountain stream makes it an ideal photo spot. The best viewing period is usually from early November to late November, though it may vary depending on weather conditions. Admission is free.
