Hokkaido Onuma Great Run & Walk 2026

About this event

This is a running and walking sports event held in Onuma Quasi-National Park, which spreads out at the foot of Hokkaido Komagatake. During the autumn foliage season, participants can enjoy running or walking at their own pace while taking in the beautiful nature along the shores of Lake Onuma. Rather than being a race to compete for time, the event aims to let people experience the fun and joy of running, with enthusiastic roadside cheering as some people even participate in costumes. After reaching the goal, free offerings such as apples, milk, and the local specialty "King Shiitake" mushrooms are provided, earning high praise from participants. The slogan is "Runners, walkers, and supporters. This step is my Great Run story," aiming to make every participant the protagonist of their own story. It is easy for people of various age groups to participate, offering content enjoyable for children to adults alike. The course utilizes the lake-circling road, allowing participants to run while taking in breathtaking views. In addition, traffic regulations will be in effect on the Lake Onuma lakeside road on the day of the event.
