Mount Tsukuba Shrine Moon Viewing Festival

Japanese name:筑波山神社 観月祭

📅 Sat, Sep 26, 2026

📍 Tsukuba, Ibaraki

About this event

The Kangetsu-sai (Moon Viewing Festival) will be held at Mount Tsukuba Shrine. Dedication performances of the koto and shakuhachi will be given by members of the Soshunkai, Chikutokai, Kinko-ryu Shodokai, and Keizankai. Since ancient times, people have offered gratitude and prayers for a bountiful harvest to the harvest moon, sharing the joy of living alongside the blessings of nature. Along with the elegant melodies woven by live koto and shakuhachi performances, you can enjoy the beauty of the moon, the soft lights illuminating the worship hall, the autumn breeze swaying the Japanese pampas grass, and a peaceful time illuminated by the full moon. You can spend a quiet moment taking a step away from daily life, calming your mind, and facing nature. Admission is free, and approximately 100 people can attend.
