The 17th Kamisu Butchake Festival 2026, held in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture, is a celebration of Yosakoi and dance. Named after 'butchakeru,' a local Kamisu dialect phrase meaning 'to break down walls' or 'to open one's heart,' dancers from city teams and across the nation gather regardless of school or style to deliver passionate, dynamic performances. Started in 2010, the festival aims to raise Kamisu City's profile and revitalize local tourism, commerce, and industry. In addition to stage performances, parade venues, and circle dance (wa-odori) grounds, visitors can enjoy a bell pepper speed-eating contest, food stalls, and craft shops. A night bubble show has also been confirmed, with tickets available for purchase.
