About this event
The "3rd Taiyo Festival 2026" will be held on September 27, 2026, in the Taiyo district of Hokota City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The purpose of this festival is to promote interaction among residents and provide memorable experiences for children in the Taiyo district, where local events have decreased since the municipal merger forming Hokota City in 2005. Organized by the "Taiyo District Festival Executive Committee," formed by local resident volunteers, the event aims to revitalize the local community and ultimately revive the Taiyo Tasshaka Dance in the future. The event plans a variety of activities for all ages from children to seniors, including rice-cake tossing (mochimaki), shooting galleries, shape-cutting candy games (katanuki), esports, food and beverage stalls, and workshops. It is a community-rooted festival that aims to build new local traditions and deepen connections throughout the region.
