At Torizaki Gorge located in Mori Town, Hokkaido, beautiful autumn foliage can be enjoyed in autumn. Heading from National Route 5 along the Torizaki River into the nature-rich mountainous area, the gorge unfolding before your eyes is dyed in red and yellow, captivating visitors. Within the virgin forest stretching about 4 to 12 kilometers from the river mouth, eight scenic spots are scattered, among which 'Byobu Cliff' features a magnificent landscape of continuous precipices about 100 meters high. At 'Shishi Hazama,' you can see strange rocks shaped like a lion's head. Unlike the fresh green season, during the autumn foliage season the entire gorge is enveloped in vivid colors, moving visitors. Admission is free, and it can be visited 24 hours a day. The typical best viewing period is from mid-October to early November.
