Japanese name:第39回利根川大花火大会
📅 Sat, Sep 19, 2026
About this event
Held on the Tone River floodplains in Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, the "39th Tone River Grand Fireworks Festival" is one of Japan's largest fireworks festivals, attracting approximately 300,000 visitors every year. Four nationally renowned master pyrotechnic companies compete, and skilled pyrotechnicians who have won awards at national fireworks competitions will launch approximately 30,000 fireworks. The powerful fireworks show synchronized with music and the dynamic starmines bursting right before your eyes are breathtaking. The largest shells, Size No. 10 shells, reach a diameter of 300 meters upon bursting, which is a notably large scale for a fireworks festival in the Kanto region. Paid viewing seats are also available, allowing guests to enjoy the fireworks comfortably. The event date and time is Saturday, September 19, 2026, with the ceremony starting from 18:00 and the fireworks launch taking place from 18:30 to 20:30. The venue is Sakai Riverside Park (Tone River floodplains).
