About this event

The Canicross (dog marathon) and Bikejoring tournament, where dogs and humans run (or walk) together, will be held for the first time at Funka Bay Panorama Park in Yakumo Town, Hokkaido. Canicross is a 2 km race divided into three categories: small dogs, medium dogs, and large dogs, categorized by shoulder height. A rolling start system sending off two pairs approximately every 10 seconds will be adopted. Bikejoring will also be a 2 km race held in one category, and wearing a helmet is mandatory. In addition, a charity run called "Orange Run," where participants wear orange clothing or merchandise to run together, will be held, with all participation fees donated to animal welfare organizations. The Orange Run is open to individuals participating alone or accompanied by dogs, with no age restrictions. Tournament regulations specify that dogs must be at least 8 months old, harness use is mandatory with retractable leashes prohibited, and humans must not pull the dog. Participation fees for Canicross and Bikejoring are normally 5,500 yen or more per team, and late entry is 6,000 yen or more per team. The Orange Run is 1,500 yen per person. Admission to the venue is free, so non-participants can also enjoy the event.
