About this event

Set in the apple-producing area spreading at the foot of Mount Kogashi, one of North Kanto's famous peaks, this cycling tour traces the phantom abandoned railway track originally laid between the late Taisho era and early Showa era to transport Oya stone, which fell out of use around 1935 (Showa 10). Following traces remaining here and there, participants will tour scenic landscapes and facilities in the Oya district of Utsunomiya City, and then enjoy an apple picking experience on the Fruit Road along National Route 293. On the tour, in addition to savoring the popular lunch set from "cafe & dining Cascade Garden," where lines form before opening, you can sample fully ripe apple juice at the "Oya Grand Center," a new spot conveying the industrial history and culture of the Oya district. Additionally, a special public unveiling of the precious Mokujiki Buddha statue handed down at Yakushido in Tochikubo, Kanuma City, will be held. With a guide provided, even beginners can participate with peace of mind, making this a fulfilling program to fully enjoy nature, history, industry, food, and special experiences all at once. The total distance is 14.1 km.
