Light Up NIKKO 2026

About this event

This event illuminates the World Heritage "Shrines and Temples of Nikko" during the long autumn nights. The illuminated World Heritage structures emerge into the darkness, creating an enchanting and mystical atmosphere distinctly different from daytime. A variety of events are held daily throughout the period. The Night Walk Rally invites visitors to purchase a traditional lantern and collect stamps placed around the venue; collecting four stamps grants entry into a raffle to win coupons and prizes for local shops. Lanterns are sold for 500 yen each (includes raffle ticket) from 17:00 to 21:00. In addition, live performances will take place daily on a special stage in front of Rinno-ji Temple's Sambutsudo Hall. The schedule includes Japanese taiko drumming and vocal music on Friday, November 6; children's taiko drumming, singer-songwriter sets, dance performances, and a hip-hop live show on Saturday, November 7; and Yosakoi dance performances along with music by a girl group on Sunday, November 8. Furthermore, World Heritage Night Weddings will be conducted at Nikko Futarasan Shrine during the festival. A special food court will also be set up near Sambutsudo Hall, offering warm food and drinks.
