About this event

Held in Ohtawara City, Tochigi Prefecture, the 'Sakuyama Fireworks Festival' is a magnificent event where approximately 5,000 fireworks light up the night sky. Starmines are launched one after another, brightly coloring the vast sky. In addition, 'Message Fireworks' conveying feelings to loved ones are held, featuring announcements of names and messages. Starting from 2026, the event timing has changed from the customary August 16 to October, allowing visitors to leisurely enjoy fireworks beneath the crisp autumn night sky. The venue is the riverbed beneath Iwaibashi Bridge on the Hoki River in Sakuyama, with launch times from 19:15 to 21:00. In case of stormy weather, the event will be postponed to the following day. Admission is free, and no advance reservation is required. Access is approximately 30 minutes by car from JR Utsunomiya Line Nishi-Nasuno Station, or approximately 15 minutes by car from Nozaki Station. It is about 20 minutes from the Tohoku Expressway Yaita IC. Free parking is available for approximately 500 vehicles.
