Prefectural Citizens' Arts Festival 50th Anniversary Commemorative Project: Art Live

About this event

Held as a commemorative project for the 50th anniversary of the Prefectural Citizens' Arts Festival in Gunma Prefecture, 'Art Live' is a performance where artists across genres collaborate to generate new inspiration. The theme for this edition is 'Tradition and Creation.' By superimposing the free ideas of contemporary art onto the inherited traditional skills and beauty, a stage performance enjoyable across generations will be delivered. Performers include Ikebana flower artist Oshun Tsukagoshi, koto/shamisen performer and composer Takashi Honma, koto/shamisen performer Kenta Kawada, traditional Japanese music percussionist (hayashikata) Eishin Tosha, tap artist Lily, the Senbongi Ryuto Shinmai Preservation Society (a Gunma Prefecture-designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property), artist (textiles) Miku Seki, and art director Tetsuo Yamashige, among others. The performance consists of Part 1 'Tradition' featuring a joint performance of traditional Japanese music and lion dance, Part 2 'Creation' featuring a collaboration between tap dance and traditional Japanese music, and Part 3 'Intersection' where Ikebana, tap dance, and traditional Japanese music intersect. Tickets are 500 yen with all seats unreserved.
