Annaka Festival and Commerce & Industry Festival

Information on the "Annaka Festival", the largest festival in Annaka City held every autumn, and the concurrently held "Commerce & Industry Festival". This year marks the once-every-two-years "Float Year", featuring the parade of historic dashi floats passed down through the region as the main highlight. The floats are carefully maintained in each district, and while children play traditional festival music they have practiced, adults pull the floats. The float procession consists of a "district run" and the "main event"; during the main event, floats from all districts gather on the grounds of the new City Hall building to perform their festival music together. The "kajibou" steering poles, which steer the direction of the floats, require full physical strength and teamwork as a crucial role. At the Commerce & Industry Festival venue, food trucks, food booths, and merchandise stalls will line up, hosting all-day entertainment such as a grand prize raffle and keyword rally. In addition, the local specialty bento "Annaka Location Bento" and sweets made with local specialty plums will be sold in limited quantities. To wrap up the festival, a fireworks display will also be held, which can be viewed from the grounds of the new City Hall building. It is a day where you can feel the warmth and vitality of the people of Annaka.
