Held in Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture—known as the birthplace of the children's song 'Momiji' (Autumn Leaves)—is the 'Usui Pass Maple Hill Climb in Annaka 2026.' This event is a refreshing hill climb race where cyclists ride through the breathtaking scenery of Usui Pass adorned with beautiful autumn foliage. With course settings that anyone regardless of age or gender can enjoy, riders can catch views of Lake Usui and the 'Meganebashi' (Spectacles Bridge), known as one of Japan's largest brick arch bridges standing among nature-rich mountains. While having an accessible course for beginners with a total distance of 13.09 km and an average gradient of 3.8%, it features a succession of 184 curves, allowing cyclists to enjoy ever-changing views with every turn. A diverse range of categories is available—including Expert, Minivelo, General, and e-Bike—allowing participants to enter according to their skill level. In particular, rental bicycles are available for the e-Bike category, offering an easy opportunity for cycling beginners to participate. On race day, food trucks serving Annaka City's specialty products and sweets are scheduled to be on site, allowing participants to enjoy gourmet food alongside the race. On the day prior, 'BIKE HEROES,' a bicycle race open to children as young as 2 years old, will also be held, making it an event that both children and adults can enjoy.
