About this event

This special exhibition introduces the history and precious cultural properties handed down at Obushizan Kannon-in, a historic Buddhist temple located in Obuchi, Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture. In this exhibition, all seven statues of the "Obuchi Kannon-in Enku Buddha Statues," designated as cultural properties of Saitama Prefecture, will be on display (Standing Fudo Myoo, Standing Sho Kannon Bosatsu, Standing Bishamonten, Goho Daizenshin, Standing Zao Gongen, Seated En no Gyoja, and Yasha Myoo). Visitors can experience up close the unique sculptural beauty of Enku's expressive, powerful Buddha statues, as well as explore in depth the history of Shugendo that conveyed its own unique beliefs. It is an exhibition packed with local miracles where you can experience the breath of history and outstanding wood-carving techniques with all five senses. It is held ahead of the once-in-60-years unveiling of the principal image, the Sho Kannon Bosatsu statue.
